Proven way to let your cats meet/

If you want to introduce your new cat to your existing cats, you just need a little patience!

Cats are territorial and tend to want to rule their domain. Especially when a new cat or kitten is introduced into their home! In my experience, cats tend to get along with dogs more quickly than their own species. A few things you can do when you bring the new little guy/gal home.

Give them their own cat box, bowls, bed and put them in their own room. This gives them a secure place to get to know their new home. Also, allows you and the new Purrball to bond alone.

Keep your cats separated. Introduce things that have cat #1's scent into the secure room that inhabits cat #2. And vise verse. This way the felines can get an idea of what/who they're dealing with.

You might notice that one is more aggressive than the other at trying to meet. Or both cats might be totally oblivious to one another. Either way, as soon as either cat starts playing with the under under the door, this might be a great time to let them meet securely!

At this point Put one or both (depending on how aggressive your cats are) into their cages/carriers, and place them face to face but not close enough to touch one another. Obviously, as time goes by, you should determine if you want to let them touch through the cages. This stage could take days OR weeks. It's all dependent on your cat!

After your furballs are both curious about one another, Let one out of it's cage. This allows one to investigated and one to be investigated in a secure situation. After time, switch your kittens!! You might get hissing and clawing, but over time this will fade. Be aware of each cats demeanor, as these situations can cause extreme stress for either/both cat. (You might notice excessive shedding from both during these times.)

Always bring your Cats back to their safe room after these excursions.

Once your cats are mutually playing under the door, and New cat is trying to get out into the rest of the house more vigorously than ever, it's probably time! Let it happen! Make sure you pay attention to them, just to make sure nothing goes eire. Hissing, a little yelling and slap fights are to be expected! It's nerve racking, but it'll be over soon!

After 2-3 days in the open together, your cats should be best pals! (Of course, outcome varies)

Enjoy!
